Despre acest obiectiv
## A Monument of Moldavian Faith and History Aroneanu Church, located in the namesake commune of Iași County, is one of the most valuable religious monuments in northeastern Romania. Built in the 16th century, this place of worship bears the imprint of the era of Stephen the Great, serving as an eloquent example of medieval Moldavian architecture. While no documents precisely confirm the year of its construction, experts place its erection around 1594, a period when Moldavian rulers paid special attention to religious foundations. ## Architecture and Symbolism The church impresses with its simplicity and balance of forms, characteristic of the transitional Moldavian style. Its trilobate plan, featuring semicircular apses and an open porch, is typical of princely churches from that era. The thick walls, constructed from stone and brick, are supported by discreet buttresses, while the tall, four-sloped roof gives the building a slender silhouette. The interior preserves fragments of mural paintings depicting biblical scenes and decorative motifs inspired by the Byzantine tradition, though some portions have been affected by the passage of time. The bell tower, added later, harmoniously completes the ensemble, offering a panoramic view of the surroundings. Notable is the inscription above the entrance door, which, though deteriorated, still bears traces of the original text mentioning the founders and master builders. ## Short Visitor’s Guide Aroneanu Church is located approximately 10 kilometers northwest of Iași municipality, accessible via county road DJ282D. Visitors can reach it by personal car or by buses connecting Iași with neighboring localities.
