Despre acest obiectiv
## A Symbol of National Resistance in the Heart of the Apuseni Mountains The Avram Iancu Memorial House stands at the entrance of the village bearing his name, along the road connecting Câmpeni to the heart of Țara Moților. Built in 1800 by the hero’s father, Alimpiu Iancu, this modest residence has become a place of pilgrimage for those wishing to explore the world of the man known as the "Prince of the Mountains." The 1850 will, in which Avram Iancu left his fortune "for the benefit of the Romanian nation" to establish a law academy, underscores his belief in the power of law as a tool for national emancipation. ## Mocănească Architecture: Between Tradition and Symbolism The building impresses with its simplicity and authenticity, serving as a remarkable example of Mocănească architecture. The steep roof, resembling a traditional hat, and the structure made of wood and stone blend harmoniously into the landscape dominated by towering fir trees and the waters of the Mic Aries River. The interior preserves the atmosphere of yesteryear, with modest yet historically significant rooms. The permanent exhibition houses personal items belonging to Avram Iancu: the cannon and sabers used during the 1848–1849 revolution, the flute with which he accompanied his patriotic songs, and the weapons that accompanied his struggles. ## A Journey Through History and Tradition The museum offers visitors a dual perspective: historical and ethnographic. The displayed documents—Avram Iancu’s school certificates, records related to the preparation of the revolution, and his will—reconstruct key moments in the fight for Romanian rights. The ethnography section completes the picture, showcasing the Mocănească traditional attire, traditional vessels, tools for making ciubăre (wooden containers) and tulnice (alphorns), and objects illustrating the daily life of the local community. ## Practical Guide for Visitors The Avram Iancu Memorial House is accessible year-round, with a schedule adapted to the season. Visitors can easily reach it from Alba Iulia or Câmpeni by following the county road that traverses picturesque mountain landscapes. Admission is free for children and students, while adults pay a symbolic fee. A stop here is an opportunity to discover not only the history of a hero but also the authentic charm of Mocănească life.
