Despre acest obiectiv
## A medieval jewel in the heart of Transylvania The Bazna Fortified Evangelical Church rises in the northeastern part of the village, keeping alive the memory of the Saxon community that shaped this corner of Transylvania. Built in the 15th century, the church bears in its walls traces of an even older history: Romanesque elements from the 13th century attest to the existence of an earlier construction on the same site, gradually integrated into the new Gothic edifice. ## Architecture and construction details The church's choir is built in the form of a robust tower, an architectural solution frequently encountered in Saxon fortified churches, designed to offer protection in times of danger. The surrounding wall, erected between the 15th and 16th centuries, completes the defensive system, transforming the church into a safe refuge for the inhabitants. The interior preserves valuable artistic elements, such as the Baroque organ, whose sounds resonate within the sacred space, and the intricately carved choir stalls, a testament to local craftsmanship. ## Short visitor guide Access to Bazna is easily made from Sibiu via county road DJ106, with the village located approximately 30 kilometers northeast of the city. The church can be visited during service hours or by prior appointment with the local Evangelical parish. Visitors are invited to admire the harmonious blend of defensive and religious elements, as well as the tranquility that envelops this history-laden site. A stop in Bazna also offers the opportunity to discover other local attractions, such as the mineral springs that have made the resort famous.
