Despre acest obiectiv
## Bragadiru Palace â An Eclectic Jewel of Industrial Bucharest Bragadiru Palace, located at 147-153 Calea Rahovei in Sector 5 of the capital, stands as a testament to social ascension and entrepreneurial spirit at the beginning of the 20th century. The building was erected in 1905 by Dumitru Marinescu Bragadiru, a businessman who amassed his fortune through the trade of brandy and spirits during the War of Independence. After founding a refined alcohol factory in the commune of Bragadiruâfrom which he took his nameâMarinescu expanded his industrial empire with Romaniaâs third brewery, built on a 10-hectare plot in the area of todayâs George CoČbuc Square. The palace was initially conceived as a recreational space for the factory workers, offering a multifunctional ballroom (which hosted theater performances and concerts), a library, a summer garden, and a terrace. ## Eclectic Architecture and Refined Details The edifice impresses with its eclectic style, blending Norman, Victorian, and neoclassical influences. Spiral staircases, inspired by Norman architecture, lead to balconies adorned with carved wood, characteristic of the Victorian era. The façade is embellished with elaborate stucco work, decorative statues, and Venetian mirrors, while the interior preserves luxurious elements such as high ceilings and gilded details. Nicknamed the "Colosseum" due to its generous proportions, the palace was designed to impress, reflecting the social status of its founder. ## From Lenin Cultural House to Event Center During the communist period, the building was transformed into the "Lenin Cultural House," temporarily losing its original function. Today, Bragadiru Palace is a vibrant space, hosting cultural events, weddings, conferences, cocktail parties, and festive dinners. Visitors can admire its architecture and historic atmosphere during public events or by booking guided tours. Access is easy from central Bucharest, as it is situated near George CoČbuc Square and the Eroilor or Politehnica metro stations.
