Despre acest obiectiv
## Brâncovenești Castle – Medieval Fortress and Noble Residence Brâncovenești Castle stands on the site of a Roman castrum from the time of Emperor Trajan, in the village of Daneș, Mureș County. Built in the 15th century by the noble Losonczi Dezsőfi family, the castle was reconstructed in 1557, retaining its square plan with an inner courtyard and four corner towers—two larger and two smaller. Renaissance-style windows, a stone balcony above the entrance, and decorative consoles on the tower floors lend the ensemble a unique charm. Over the centuries, the castle was owned by prominent figures in Transylvanian history, including Sigismund Báthory, Gabriel Bethlen, and Michael the Brave, who stationed his army here in 1600. In 1662, Prince Ioan Kemény, the last owner from the Kemény family, rebuilt the estate after the devastation caused by a battle. In 1926, Count Ioan Kemény hosted the Helikon literary gathering here, bringing together 28 of the most important Transylvanian writers of the time. ## Architecture and Later Uses The entrance to the castle is on the northern side, via a small bridge crossing the fortress moat. The Transylvanian Renaissance style is evident in the decorative details, while the towers and thick walls reflect its original function as a fortress. After 1945, the building was converted into a care home for children with severe psychological disabilities, a role it retains today alongside its function as a tourist attraction. ## Visitor Information Brâncovenești Castle can be visited at an affordable rate: 70 RON for adults, 50 RON for seniors, 40 RON for students, and 20 RON for pupils.
