Despre acest obiectiv
## A Museum of Brașov's Identity The Brașov County History Museum opens its doors in the heart of the city, in Council Square, within a building as rich in history as the exhibits it houses. Since 1950, the institution has operated in the former "Council House," an emblematic edifice that served over the centuries as the seat of local administration. Its architecture reflects the synthesis of styles that marked the city's evolution: the severe Gothic of medieval walls intertwines with the refined details of the Renaissance and Baroque ornaments, resulting in a harmonious structure laden with symbols. ## A Journey Through Time in 17 Rooms The permanent exhibition, titled *"Brașov – History, Culture, Civilization,"* unfolds across three levels, offering visitors a chronological journey through the city's and the Burzenland region's past. In the basement, the archaeology section reveals traces of the first human communities in these lands, with artifacts attesting to the continuity of life since prehistoric times. The ground floor is dedicated to medieval history, showcasing documents, weapons, household objects, and religious art pieces that illustrate Brașov's role as a commercial and cultural hub during the Middle Ages. The upper floor hosts modern history, with exhibits reflecting the social, economic, and political transformations of the 18th to 20th centuries. The museum's collection comprises over 3,300 carefully selected pieces to depict not only major events but also the daily life of Brașov's inhabitants over time. Alongside the exhibits, the museum's library, with a collection of 23,000 volumes, serves as a valuable resource for researchers and history enthusiasts. ## Practical Guide for Visitors The museum is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, with hours adapted to the season. Access is directly from Council Square, and the building is easily recognizable by its emblematic tower and facade decorated with sculptural elements. Visitors can opt for guided tours, available in multiple languages, or explore the exhibitions at their own pace. For those interested in study or research, the museum's library can be accessed by prior appointment. Admission is free on the first Sunday of each month, and discounted rates are available for students, pupils, and seniors.
