## History and Documentary Attestation Călimănești-Căciulata Spa Resort stretches along the right bank of the Olt River, at the foot of Cozia Mountain, in the Jiblea-Călimănești sub-Carpathian depression. First mentioned in documents in 1386, the resort gained international fame thanks to its mineral springs with remarkable therapeutic properties. The first facilities dedicated to mineral water cures appeared in 1910, marking the beginning of continuous development that transformed the locality into a leading spa center. ## Mineral Waters and Therapeutic Benefits The natural curative factors include a diverse range of mineral waters, with varying concentrations and chemical compositions: sulfurous, chlorinated, sodium bromurated, calcic, or magnesian, most of which are hypotonic. The gentle bioclimate specific to the area promotes rest and bodily recovery. The resort treats conditions of the digestive tract, hepatobiliary, renal, metabolic, rheumatic, post-traumatic, neurological, respiratory, gynecological, dermatological, endocrine, and cardiovascular systems. Therapies include internal mineral water cures, sulfurous hot baths, aerosols, inhalations, electrotherapy, hydrotherapy, sauna, and medical gymnastics. ## Access and Visitor Activities Located at an altitude of 260-280 meters, the resort is 18 km from Râmnicu Vâlcea and 81 km from Sibiu, easily accessible via national roads. In addition to spa treatments, visitors can explore the mountainous landscapes of the Căpățânii and Cozia Mountains, enjoying walks and hikes that complement the relaxation and recovery experience. The resort thus combines therapeutic tradition with recreational opportunities, offering an ideal setting for convalescence and rest.
