Despre acest obiectiv
## Fortified Evangelical Church of Slimnic In the heart of Transylvania, just 20 kilometers northwest of Sibiu, stands a monument to the resilience and faith of the Saxon community: the Fortified Evangelical Church of Slimnic. Built in the 14th century, this site harmoniously combines religious and defensive functions, reflecting the need for protection among German settlers against Ottoman invasions and medieval conflicts. ## Architecture and Fortifications Originally Gothic in style, the church was modified in the 16th century with the addition of a wider nave and a massive bell tower. Its distinctive feature is the fortified enclosure, with walls up to 4 meters thick and circular defensive towers, constructed in successive stages. The best-preserved gate tower retains traces of a drawbridge and loopholes for arquebuses. Inside, the 1776 Baroque-style pulpit and the 19th-century restored organ stand as testaments to the community's spiritual life. ## Visitor Guide The complex is located in the center of Slimnic, accessible via county road DJ106A. Visitors can explore the church, inner courtyard, and sections of the fortified walls, which offer panoramic views of the surrounding hills. The visiting schedule is seasonal, and access is managed through the local Evangelical church. Nearby, traditional Saxon houses and the 18th-century Orthodox church complete the multicultural landscape of the area.
