Despre acest obiectiv
## A Natural Wonder in the Heart of Mehedinți God's Bridge, also known as the Ponoare Natural Bridge, is one of Romania’s most breathtaking geomorphological formations. Located just 5 kilometers from Baia de Aramă within the Ponoare commune, this natural monument is part of the Ponoare Karst Complex Geomorphological Reserve, spanning 100 hectares. Alongside other unique erosion phenomena, the natural bridge stands out due to its impressive dimensions and distinctive shape, making it a one-of-a-kind attraction in the country. ## Formation and Unique Features God's Bridge was formed following the collapse of a cave’s ceiling, resulting in a majestic arch with remarkable dimensions: 60 meters in length, 9 meters in width, and 14 meters in height. This natural structure is the second-largest in Europe, after Greece’s Arta Bridge, and serves as a remarkable example of human adaptation to the natural landscape. A road has been built across its surface, connecting Baia de Aramă to Drobeta-Turnu Severin and integrating the bridge into the local transportation network. ## Access and Visiting To reach God's Bridge, visitors can follow county road DJ670A, which crosses this natural marvel. The area is accessible to tourists eager to admire the scenery as well as those interested in exploring the geomorphological reserve. Nearby, other karst formations, such as sinkholes and lapies, enhance the visitor experience, offering a fascinating glimpse into the world of geology. Recommended for hikers and nature enthusiasts, God's Bridge is a must-visit destination for any itinerary through Mehedinți.
