The construction of the edifice was completed in 1748, although interior finishes continued in the following years, consolidating Blaj’s role as the episcopal seat and cultural center of Transylvanian Romanians. ## Architecture and Artistic Details The building impresses with its balanced proportions and Baroque influences, adapted to the specific liturgical traditions of the Greek-Catholic rite. The cathedral’s dome is decorated with mural paintings organized in successive registers, blending Byzantine tradition with realistic accents characteristic of the 18th century.
