Despre acest obiectiv

## Ialomița County Museum – A Cultural Treasure in the Heart of the Bărăgan Plain The Ialomița County Museum opens its doors in the center of Slobozia municipality, at 30 Matei Basarab Boulevard, in a building that houses one of the most valuable heritage collections in the South-Muntenia region. Founded to preserve and promote the cultural identity of the area, the museum offers a fascinating journey through the history, art, and traditions of the region, from the oldest archaeological remains to the works of modern artists. ## A Journey Through Time: Collections That Tell Millennia-Old Stories The archaeology section traces the evolution of civilizations that inhabited the Ialomița territory, with exhibits spanning a vast period from the Neolithic to the Middle Ages. Notable items include stone tools, decorated ceramics, and jewelry, alongside an impressive numismatic collection. Coins from the Roman Republic and Empire, Byzantine, Ottoman, Bulgarian, Austro-Hungarian, and Romanian eras—made of bronze or silver—reflect the commercial exchanges and cultural influences that shaped the region over the centuries. Ethnography holds a special place in the museum’s heritage, showcasing the traditional life of rural communities in the Bărăgan Plain. Here, visitors can admire traditional folk costumes, interior textiles with geometric or floral motifs, traditional ceramics, and agricultural tools, along with lighting objects, peasant furniture, and musical instruments. The collection also includes artifacts related to customs and rituals, offering an authentic glimpse into local folklore. ## Art and Spirituality: From Icons to Modern Masterpieces The art and religious culture section preserves testimonies of faith and the skilled craftsmanship of icon painters. Wooden icons from the 18th–19th centuries, liturgical vessels, old books, and priestly vestments are complemented by restored fragments of the original fresco from the Dridu-Sărindar church, a rare example of medieval mural painting in the area. The museum also hosts a rich collection of fine and decorative arts, featuring over 1,200 works by renowned names in Romanian art: Corneliu Baba, Oscar Han, Emil Ciocoiu, Sabin Bălașa, Margareta Sterian, and Horia Bernea. Special mention goes to the "Nicolae and Zamfira Tuzlaru" collection, which enriches the museum’s heritage with works of exceptional value. ## Practical Guide for Visitors The Ialomița County Museum is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, between 09:00 and 17:00, with Sunday hours from 10:00 to 16:00. The museum is closed on Mondays. Access is easy, as the building is located near the city center, just minutes away from the main thoroughfares. Visitors can explore the permanent exhibitions or participate in temporary cultural events organized periodically. For groups or guided tours, advance booking is recommended.
