Despre acest obiectiv
## Iași Art Museum – A Cultural Treasure of Moldova The Iași Art Museum, located in the heart of the city, is one of the most important cultural institutions in the region, housing a valuable collection of Romanian and European artworks. Founded in 1860, the museum is situated in the Palace of Culture, an emblematic building of Iași constructed between 1906 and 1925 based on the designs of architect Ion D. Berindey. The building itself is an architectural masterpiece, blending Neo-Gothic and Neo-Romanian styles with decorative elements inspired by local tradition. ## Collections and Artistic Heritage The museum houses over 8,000 works, including paintings, sculptures, graphics, and decorative art, signed by great names in Romanian art such as Nicolae Grigorescu, Theodor Aman, Ștefan Luchian, Nicolae Tonitza, and Gheorghe Petrașcu. The European art section features works by Italian, Flemish, and French masters from the 16th to the 19th centuries, offering a broad perspective on the evolution of art on the continent. Additionally, the museum organizes temporary exhibitions exploring contemporary themes or retrospectives of local artists. ## Visitor Guide The Iași Art Museum is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with easy access for both tourists and locals. The Palace of Culture, where the museum is located, also hosts other cultural institutions, such as the Museum of Moldavian History and the Ethnographic Museum, allowing visitors to explore multiple facets of the region’s heritage in a single day. Admission is free on the first Sunday of each month, and audio guides or guided tours can be requested at the reception. For those interested in special events, the museum periodically organizes exhibitions, creative workshops, and thematic conferences.
