Despre acest obiectiv
## A Corner of Literary History in the Heart of Moldavia The Ion Creangă Memorial House in Humulești preserves the memory of one of Romania’s most cherished writers, housing the home where he was born and spent his childhood. Likely built around 1830 by the writer’s grandfather, Petrea Ciubotariul, this modest peasant dwelling is a true document of rural life in 19th-century Moldavia. The building, listed on the National Register of Historic Monuments in Neamț County, is an authentic example of Moldavian folk architecture, reflecting the local building traditions of the time. ## Architecture and Atmosphere of the Memorial House The house, featuring a single main room and a small entrance hall, impresses with its simplicity and functionality. Thick walls, narrow windows, and a wide porch sheltering the low entrance from the rain are characteristic elements of peasant homes in the region. Inside, visitors discover an authentic atmosphere recreated with traditional objects: agricultural tools, rustic furniture, and household items that illustrate the daily life of a Moldavian peasant family. The exhibition also includes archival documents, letters, photocopies of manuscripts, and photographs of Ion Creangă, offering a journey into the writer’s literary and personal world. ## Practical Visitor Information The museum is located at 8 Ion Creangă Street, Humulești-Târgu Neamț, and is managed by the Neamț County Museum Complex. Opening hours vary by season: 09:00 to 17:00 from October to March, and 10:00 to 18:00 from April to September, with Mondays as the weekly closing day. Access is easy, and behind the house, under a shingle roof, additional household items are displayed, completing the picture of rural life during Creangă’s time. A visit here is an opportunity to walk in the footsteps of the great storyteller and discover the authentic charm of a bygone Romanian village.
