## A Symbol of Romanian Democracy in the Heart of Sălaj The Iuliu Maniu Memorial House in Bădăcin, Sălaj County, preserves the memory of one of Romania’s most important interwar political figures. Built in the 19th century, this house was the residence of the Maniu family and the birthplace of Iuliu Maniu, born on January 8, 1873. A leader of the National Peasants' Party and Prime Minister of Romania from 1928 to 1933, Maniu developed his political ideals here—rooted in democracy, social justice, and national unity—amidst the rural landscape of Sălaj. ## Traditional Architecture and Historic Atmosphere Constructed in the traditional Maramureș style, the house impresses with its simplicity and functionality. Its wooden and brick walls, four-sloped roof, and spacious porch reflect the architectural heritage of the region. Temporary exhibitions hosted here further enrich the narrative, highlighting the cultural and historical heritage of the area. ## Practical Visitor Information Today, the Iuliu Maniu Memorial House operates as an exhibition hall and is open to visitors from Tuesday to Sunday, between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
