Despre acest obiectiv
## A Glacial Oasis in the Heart of the Făgăraș Mountains Lady's Lake lies hidden in the northern part of the Făgăraș Mountains, at an altitude of 1,865 meters, making it one of the most accessible and picturesque glacial formations in the Southern Carpathians. Its name evokes local legends about the wild beauty of the place, though the lake's certified history remains closely tied to the geological processes that shaped the landscape tens of thousands of years ago. Its glacial origin lends it a unique charm, with crystal-clear waters reflecting the towering ridges and surrounding coniferous forests. ## A Natural Jewel at Altitude Covering an area of approximately 3,000 square meters and with a maximum depth of 1.5 meters, Lady's Lake impresses with its simplicity. Its shores are surrounded by alpine meadows and moss-covered rocks, while in the summer months, edelweiss and gentians add color to the landscape. The tranquil, blue-green waters are home to newts and frogs, and on clear days, the peaks of the Făgăraș Mountains are perfectly mirrored in the lake's surface. Though not the largest or deepest lake in the area, its charm lies in its relatively easy accessibility and the peaceful atmosphere it offers. ## Practical Guide for Visitors Access to Lady's Lake is from the village of Cârțișoara, located approximately 30 kilometers from Sibiu. The journey to the lake begins with a paved road to Cârțișoara, followed by a forest trail marked with a red stripe. The approximately 8-kilometer (round-trip) route ascends gently through the forest and then through alpine zones, requiring appropriate footwear and gear for sudden weather changes. The best time to visit is between June and September, when the snow has completely retreated and weather conditions are more stable. The lake is an ideal stopover for hikers exploring the Făgăraș ridge or those looking to enjoy a day in nature, far from the crowds.
