Despre acest obiectiv
## A Health Oasis and Biodiversity Hotspot on the Black Sea Shore Lake Techirghiol, the largest saline lake in Romania, spans an area of 1,226.97 hectares near the coastline, south of Eforie Nord. Recognized as a Ramsar site in 2006, this unique ecosystem combines therapeutic benefits with remarkable biodiversity, being part of a mixed nature reserve of the same name. Its high salinity, reaching 95 grams per liter, results from a limited influx of freshwater, creating an environment conducive to species adapted to extreme conditions. ## An Ecosystem of Therapeutic and Scientific Value The lake's mud, formed through the interaction between the algae *Cladophora cristalina* and the crustacean *Artemia Salina*, is renowned for its curative properties and has been used in balneotherapy treatments since the early 20th century. With a maximum depth of 9 meters and a length of 7.5 kilometers, Techirghiol serves as a refuge for numerous bird species, some of which are rare or globally threatened. Among these are the marbled teal, red-breasted goose, Mediterranean gull, great cormorant, and green sandpiper, making the lake a prime attraction for ornithologists and nature enthusiasts. ## Access and Visitor Recommendations To reach Lake Techirghiol, follow National Road 39 (E 87) on the Constanța-Mangalia route, then turn right onto National Road 38 near Agigea, which crosses the western edge of the town of Techirghiol. The area is accessible year-round, though the ideal time for birdwatching and exploring the ecosystem is during spring and autumn. Visitors can combine relaxation on the lake's narrow beaches (0.4 hectares) with balneotherapy treatments offered by nearby resorts, enjoying the unique natural landscape and the tranquility of this saline paradise.
