Despre acest obiectiv
## A Glacial Oasis in the Heart of the Făgăraș Mountains Little Iezer Lake lies concealed within a wild and beautiful glacial cirque, at the foot of the main ridge of the Făgăraș Mountains. Situated at an altitude of approximately 1,955 meters, near the renowned Great Iezer Lake, this mountain lake is one of the most picturesque natural formations in the Southern Carpathians. Its almost circular shape, with a length of 80 meters and a width of 58 meters, is complemented by a modest depth of nearly two meters, which grants it exceptional transparency on clear days. ## A Treasure of the Alpine Landscape The glacial origin of the lake is evident in the surrounding relief, marked by steep slopes and moraines that testify to the activity of Pleistocene glaciers. Its crystal-clear waters, fed by springs and melting snow, mirror the sky and the encircling rocks, creating a natural tableau of profound tranquility. The vegetation specific to the alpine zone—mosses, low grasses, and mountain flowers such as the Dianthus callizonus—completes the landscape, providing an ideal habitat for rare species of butterflies and birds. ## Guide for Explorers Access to Little Iezer Lake is via marked mountain trails, starting from towns such as Avrig or Victoria. The most common starting point is the Bâlea Cascadă cabin, from where the path ascends along the Great Iezer Valley, taking approximately 4-5 hours of hiking. The route, of medium difficulty, traverses coniferous forests and alpine meadows, rewarding the effort with spectacular views. Visitors are advised to wear appropriate gear, as weather conditions can change rapidly at this altitude. The lake is ideal for day hikes or as a stopover during longer treks, offering a perfect setting for photography and relaxation in nature.
