Despre acest obiectiv
## A Numismatic Treasure in the Heart of Bucharest The National Bank of Romania Museum opens its doors in the emblematic building of the former BNR Palace, located at 25 Lipscani Street in the historic center of the capital. Situated on the ground floor of this imposing structure, the museum houses an exceptional collection, recognized as part of the national cultural heritage treasure. The permanent exhibition offers a fascinating journey through the evolution of Romanian currency, from the first ancient emissions to contemporary banknotes and coins. ## A Collection with Millennia-Old Roots The heart of the museum is its numismatic collection, one of the most valuable in the country. Visitors can admire Greek coins discovered on the current territory of Romania, witnesses to the ancient trade along the western Pontic shores. The exhibition chronologically traces the evolution of money, presenting series issued by the National Bank of Romania over time, including the first banknotes and modern coins, up to the 2005 leu denomination. Alongside these, rare pieces, bank insignia, and historical documents that complete the nation's financial story are displayed. ## A Gallery of Governors and Symbolic Architecture The museum dedicates a special space to portraits of the National Bank's governors, personalities who have marked Romania's economic history. The building itself, with its sober and elegant architecture, reflects the importance of the institution it houses. Although access is through the ground floor, visitors can observe the decorative details of the façade and the solemn atmosphere of the interior, which evokes stability and tradition. ## Practical Guide for Visitors The museum is open to the public from Monday to Friday, between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, with free admission. Access is granted upon presentation of an identity document, and visits are organized in small groups to ensure a pleasant and informative experience. Due to its central location, the museum can be easily included in a tourist circuit of Bucharest's historic area, alongside other nearby cultural attractions.
