Despre acest obiectiv
## Olt County Museum – Guardian of Historical and Cultural Identity The Olt County Museum opens its doors in the municipality of Slatina, at 1 Ana Ipătescu Street, with its Ethnography section located at 73 Ionașcu Street. The institution houses a rich heritage reflecting millennia of history and traditions in the region, from archaeological vestiges to contemporary artistic creations. ## Archaeological and Historical Treasure The History and Archaeology sections display unique pieces illustrating the evolution of civilizations within the county. Among these are artifacts from the Vădastra (Middle Neolithic), Chilia, and Ipotești cultures, as well as Geto-Dacian and Roman relics. The collections include Byzantine coins, medieval objects, and documents from the modern era, offering a comprehensive panorama of the region’s past. A distinctive feature is the reconstruction of a segment of Lipscani Street, with display cases evoking traditional shops—a grocer’s, a photo studio, a pharmacy, and a bookstore-stationery—complemented by period street lighting and early 20th-century paving. ## Ethnography and Folk Art The Ethnography section boasts an impressive collection of 8,933 objects, capturing the diversity of folk art from the Olt, Romanați, and Câmpia Boianului regions. Traditional costumes, woven rugs and textiles, Oboga ceramics, wood and iron sculptures, painted eggs, and hearth icons form a vibrant collection of local crafts and customs. The Fine Arts section rounds out the museum’s offerings with works of contemporary Romanian painting, sculpture, and graphic art, emphasizing artists born in Olt County. ## Visitor’s Guide The museum is accessible to the general public, with visiting hours tailored for guests. The History and Archaeology sections, along with the Fine Arts exhibition, can be explored at the main building, while the ethnographic collections are located a few streets away. A must-visit for history, art, and tradition enthusiasts, the Olt County Museum offers an authentic journey into the region’s cultural heritage.
