The resort, situated at altitudes between 1,440 and 1,550 meters, gradually developed around the eponymous monastery, founded in 1922 by Metropolitan Nicolae Bălan. Today, it attracts both pilgrims and winter sports enthusiasts alike. ## Trails for All Experience Levels The ski complex offers seven diverse trails, catering to beginners and advanced skiers alike. **Arena Slope**, with a length of 240 meters and a vertical drop of just 35 meters, is ideal for those taking their first steps on snow. It is serviced by a single-seat chairlift and equipped with night-skiing facilities and artificial snow cannons. At the other end of the spectrum, **La Găscăni Slope** (700 m) and **Panorama Sibiului Slope** (600 m) impress with steep gradients (22% incline) and vertical drops of 100 meters, offering challenges suited for experienced skiers. For families with children or those who prefer gentler slopes, **Platoș Slope** (520 m) and **Oncești Slope** (with two variants, 450 m and 1,150 m) provide safe conditions, complete with chairlifts and single-seat lifts. **Poiana Plopacii Slope** (600 m) and **Soarelui Slope** (640 m) round out the offering, both equipped with night-skiing facilities and snow cannons to ensure optimal conditions throughout the season. ## Infrastructure and Services for Visitor Comfort All slopes are connected to a sports equipment rental center, where visitors can find skis, snowboards, and sleds, as well as bars and terraces serving hot drinks and snacks.
