Despre acest obiectiv
## A Treasure of Pharmaceutical Science in the Heart of Sibiu The Pharmacy History Museum in Sibiu opens its doors in the historic building at 26 Piata Mică Street, where it has been operating since 1972. Located in one of the city’s most picturesque corners, the museum preserves the legacy of traditional Romanian pharmacy, housing an impressive collection of over 6,600 items dating from the 16th to the 19th centuries. The artifacts originate from 67 different sources—pharmacies, pharmaceutical offices, medical institutions, and private collections—gathered from 32 localities across the country, providing a comprehensive perspective on the evolution of medicine and pharmacy in the Romanian region. ## Architecture and Museum Layout The building that houses the museum retains the charm of traditional Sibiu architecture, featuring elements specific to the 18th century. The interior is structured into three distinct sections: the pharmaceutical office, the laboratory, and the homeopathic exhibition. The office recreates the atmosphere of an old pharmacy, complete with original furniture, ceramic and glass vessels, precision scales, and containers for preparing medicines. The laboratory, equipped with authentic instruments and utensils, illustrates the complex process of remedy production in the past. Special attention is given to the homeopathic collection, one of the most valuable in Romania, comprising over 2,900 items. This includes kits and vials of homeopathic preparations, largely sourced from the famous Sibiu pharmacy "La Îngerul" (The Angel), alongside documents attesting to pharmaceutical activity from past centuries. ## Visitor’s Guide The museum is open to the public year-round, offering access to a collection that captures the evolution of pharmacy from empiricism to modern science. Visitors can explore the exhibits at their own pace or opt for specialized guided tours, which reveal fascinating stories about remedies, medicinal plants, and forgotten pharmaceutical practices. The visiting schedule and admission fees are displayed at the entrance, and the building is accessible to individuals with reduced mobility. A visit to the Pharmacy History Museum is a journey through time, perfectly complementing the cultural experience of Sibiu.
