Despre acest obiectiv
## Roznovanu Palace – A Symbol of Neoclassical Elegance in the Heart of Iași Located on Ștefan cel Mare Boulevard, in the historic center of Iași, Roznovanu Palace is one of the most remarkable aristocratic residences of Moldavia. Built in the 18th century, the edifice was restored and remodeled between 1830 and 1833 under the supervision of architect Johan Freywald, who gave it a distinct architectural identity. ## Architecture and Stylistic Influences The palace skillfully combines neoclassical elements with eclectic-Baroque details, reflecting the era's taste for symmetry and opulent ornamentation. The main façade, dominated by elegant columns and a triangular pediment, is complemented by sculptural decorations and wrought-iron balconies, characteristic of the eclectic style. Although adapted to its current administrative functions, the interior retains traces of its former splendor, with high ceilings, stucco work, and decorative paneling. ## History and Roles Over Time The residence was built for the Rosetti-Roznovanu family, one of the most influential political and economic dynasties of Moldavia. Throughout the 19th century, the palace served as a venue for major events: it hosted the royal family during their visits to Iași, temporarily housed the Russian general Romanov, and functioned as the seat of several ministries of the government relocated from Bucharest during World War I. This diversity of roles underscores its importance not only as an architectural monument but also as a witness to national history. ## Access and Visiting Today, Roznovanu Palace houses the Iași City Hall and is accessible to the public during the institution's operating hours. While the interior is not permanently open for organized tours, visitors can admire the façade and inner courtyard, where cultural events are occasionally held. Its central location, near other historic landmarks such as the Palace of Culture and the National Theatre, makes it a must-visit for those interested in Iași's heritage.
