Despre acest obiectiv
## A Wild Corner of the Danube Delta Sacalin Zătoane is one of the most valuable wetland areas within the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve, spanning 21,410 hectares in the southern part of the delta. Comprising a mosaic of shallow lakes, narrow water channels, young sandy marine ridges, and marshes, this territory serves as a vital refuge for biodiversity, particularly during migration periods. ## A Paradise for Migratory Birds Here, nature reveals its splendor in full grandeur, especially during the spring and autumn migrations. Approximately 100 bird species choose to rest in these waters, with 14 nesting here. Lake Lejai is one of the most spectacular spots, where Dalmatian and great white pelicans find shelter. Sacalin Island, along with the coastal ridges and marshes, transforms into a true theater of nature, teeming with flocks during seasonal movements, offering a fascinating spectacle for ornithologists and nature lovers alike. ## Access and Visitor Recommendations Sacalin Zătoane is primarily accessible by water, via small boats or organized excursions from Tulcea. Visitors are advised to respect the reserve’s rules by avoiding disturbance to the birds and maintaining cleanliness. The ideal period for wildlife observation is between March and October, when migrations are at their peak. Basic equipment—binoculars, appropriate clothing, and water—is recommended for a complete experience in this wild and vibrant area.
