## A Symbolic Cathedral of Modern Buzău The Saint Sava Orthodox Cathedral, poetically known as the "Bride of the City," dominates the center of Buzău from 186 Unirii Street. Built on the site of an older church, construction of the current cathedral began in 1991, marking a moment of spiritual and architectural renaissance for the local community. Though relatively young, the edifice quickly became a landmark of the city, both through its impressive dimensions and its role as the center of religious life in Buzău. ## Architecture and Unique Spaces Designed to accommodate up to 2,000 worshippers, the cathedral impresses with its two-level structure, an innovative solution for liturgical space. The generous nave and spacious narthex are complemented by a basement housing an architectural gem: the Children’s Chapel, dedicated to Saint Stelian, the protector of infants. This chapel, unique in Europe by its name and purpose, offers an intimate space for prayer and religious education, tailored to the needs of the young.
