Despre acest obiectiv
## Gateway to Dacian Civilization The Sarmizegetusa Archaeological Museum is located in the heart of Transylvania, just a few kilometers from the archaeological site of Ulpia Traiana Sarmizegetusa, the capital of the Dacian kingdom. Established in 1924, the museum houses one of the most valuable collections dedicated to Dacian civilization and the Roman period in Romania. The building that hosts the museum, a sober edifice of stone and brick, was constructed in the 1970s specifically to protect and display the archaeological discoveries from the area. ## The Treasure of the Dacians and Romans The museum's exhibits illustrate the cultural evolution of Dacia, from the Iron Age to its integration into the Roman Empire. Among the key pieces are Dacian tools, weapons, ceramics, and jewelry, as well as Roman artifacts such as inscriptions, coins, sculptures, and mosaic fragments. A special section is dedicated to the partial reconstruction of the Dacian sanctuaries from Sarmizegetusa Regia, featuring replicas of the original pieces. Additionally, the museum displays an impressive collection of Roman funerary pillars and votive altars discovered in the local necropolises. ## Visitor Guide The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with the last entry at 4:30 PM. Admission tickets cost approximately 10 RON for adults, with discounts available for students, pupils, and seniors. A visit typically lasts 45-60 minutes and can be complemented by a tour of the Ulpia Traiana Sarmizegetusa archaeological site, located 8 km away. For a complete experience, it is recommended to combine both attractions in a day trip. The museum offers free parking and is accessible to visitors with disabilities. Additional information can be obtained at the reception or on the official website of the National Museum Complex "Sarmizegetusa."
