Online presence is a requirement. It can be turned into an advantage.
By Order no. 948/18.06.2026, MEDAT modified the classification regulations (Order ANT 65/2013), introducing at art. 13 para. (1) lit. r) a mandatory condition: any accommodation structure — from hotels to apartments in hotel regime, including individuals — must hold, exclusively for each structure, at least one email address and a personalized web page with identification data, address, and classification certificate number. The wording "exclusively for any structure" means that each unit needs its own page, and a generic one is not sufficient for operators with multiple units.
The obligation is a classification condition, verified at the issuance or renewal of the certificate. The risks of non-compliance are severe: refusal of classification or downgrade to a lower category — thus impossibility of legal operation and impossibility of registering tourists in SIT — plus sanctions from tourism legislation (OG 58/1998). Remediation is done in emergency mode, within a maximum of 15 working days, with suspended activity. In addition, the page must be owned by the operator, not by a third party — social media profiles and listings on booking platforms do not satisfy the requirement — and the new tourism law will restrict online platforms to promoting only classified structures, doubling the penalty for non-compliance. The sustainable solution remains a proprietary domain, controlled by the operator.
